In an ironic twist of fate, despite my unabashed assault on Peter Behrens' literary style, I find myself incorporating that very same question-and-answer, imperative-maximal writing style into my own work. My latest short story is full of terse, gloomy statements, uttered in first-person style sentence fragments in the middle of a standard third-person narrative.
I suppose there is something irresistible to such a method after all. Especially for one who is opinionated, but rarely able to develop an audience for his or her philosophical musings.
That, or... I have a tendency to absorb the voice of every writer I read and inevitably apply it to my own work. Who's to say?
